This is the second time I've worked with this beautiful couple - once for their maternity session, and now for their newborn session at their home. I just love photographing newborn babies in their own spaces, in their own homes, because every space is unique and I get to document it all for Mom. There is something quite special about documenting an in-home newborn session for a first time Mama because they usually go all out with the nursery. When I walk into a client's home I literally cannot wait to get to the room in their house that has the nursery! Interior design is a hobby of mine, so I always love being able to connect with Mama about all the beautiful little details of her newborn baby's space, and preserving them for her with photographs.

Baby boy Kit's coastal nursery had me at hello with all things Serena and Lily! It's funny because that wallpaper is the exact wallpaper (in the color they call pink sand) that I used in my daughter's big girl room when we moved into our new home last year. I had been itching to use that somewhere and I just love the simplicity and versatility of this wallpaper. I like that once baby grows out of the nursery phase, it can easily transition into a toddler room, or even a guest room.

Another favorite of mine about this in-home newborn session was the choice in clothing for the family. I just loved baby Kit's little checkered outfit, and Mama's pale blue dress paired with Dad's striped oxford. It gave the right touch of preppy while still remaining casual, and went so well with the light and airy coastal vibes they were going for. Living so close to the beach, I think they nailed the vibe for their newborn photos!
