Baby finally comes home! After six long weeks in the NICU, Mom and Dad are able to hold their tiny, new addition. They were keeping me posted along the way and I'm so happy to report he's healthy and their in-home newborn session went so well!
I loved their coastal maternity session we did in St. Augustine Beach just a couple of months ago, and am so glad that I was able to deliver their newborn portraits as well. There was a time we were uncertain if things would work out, but they did and he is just perfect!
One of the first things I noticed about their home when I walked in was the enormous amount of light! Not only did they have countless windows in almost every room, but the white paint and sunny day helped achieve those light and airy newborn photos that Mama asked for.
For in-home newborn sessions, this sometimes is not possible, but for their portraits I was able to utilize the light in just ONE room, in one area on one chair. It's amazing how outside of the experience and talent/eye the creative professional you hire has, it really boils down to light - seeing it and knowing how to use it. I'm sharing these images yes because it was a fun session and this is a beautiful couple inside and out, but also to show that you do not have to have your entire home "camera ready" to get that airy studio look you might want. Sometimes all it takes is a set of sheer curtains and a great low window with lots of natural light. We also had a Mama who followed my suggestions to the letter so that of course helps too. ;)
I've included a few of my favorite images from this light and bright in-home newborn session. I don't always make the trek to Jacksonville for a portrait session, but these new parents made it worth it and were totally deserving.
