St. Augustine Beach is a favorite place of mine to document family portraits. Our little haven offers not only sandy shores and rolling waves, but the beach becomes the perfect place to laugh and play with your family on the sand. It's a stunning backdrop for family photos, especially during the golden hour, just before sunset. I have always loved how the setting sun bathes everything in a warm, soft glow. That golden hour light adds a little touch of magic to each frame.
I've worked with this family before, and I never miss how much work Mom puts into her family portrait sessions. I so appreciate that! From the girls' dresses to their hair and makeup, Mom's makeup and hair, even Dad's pale pink shirt! I love the time and attention she always puts into their photo sessions. It really translates to their images.
THIS.LIGHT. Right?! Unbelievable. God was looking out for us that evening, for sure. This family so deserved it too. We had to reschedule at least 3 times due to an insanely high amount of rain for this time of year. I don't know that I have ever seen that much rain during this time of year before. But I am so glad that it eventually dissipated and allowed us to experience the most amazing St. Augustine Beach sunset. When we walked out to the dunes, our jaws dropped! I could have done this entire family photo session right in that spot!
Once the sun had set beyond the treeline, we headed down to the ocean to capture some of those beautiful, pastel-colored skies. Their neutral clothing and layered tulle dresses really helped to give their final images a soft and ethereal vibe—my personal favorite at sunset.
