Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is such a beautiful place for a family photo session in the spring! I love the weather this time of year, and the lower humidity. It makes a family portrait session enjoyable and fun!
One of my favorite things about this family's photos were their joy and laughter. I've worked with them before, for their in-home newborn session, and they're just easygoing. Mom is always graceful, and patient, and Dad is forever helpful. Those traits come in handy when rounding up a baby and a toddler for a photo session!
Mom did such a great job on the clothing for her family's spring portraits. You always want to coordinate a few colors, not matching, and put one person in the family in a pattern while keeping the rest of the family in neutral colors. Something I always point out with clothing, especially when photographing families, is to keep the brighter colors, especially greens, to a minimum in the gardens. There are a variety of green tones and hues when photographing in the gardens so you want to keep it neutral and minimal. Additionally, white acts as a natural reflector so it's always a great idea to keep it simple and timeless in the spring! And...if you're wondering about those adorable pink boots on Big Sis' they're from native. I LOVE them! So much in fact, that I bought a pair for my 5-year-old daughter! They're so practical, yet stylish. Get them! You won't be disappointed.
I have to give a shout out to Mom's beautiful floral dress! I know spring is all about florals, and I love it, but that BACK!!! I love a good maxi dress with two sides. I asked her where she got her dress, but she couldn't recall. Nonetheless, it worked perfectly for her family photo session in the garden.
