In-home newborn sessions are my very favorite way to document those first family portraits! I love the intimacy a client's actual home brings - the little nuances that make the space unique, the care and attention to detail that went into planning baby's first space, Grandma and Grandpa. It's the perfect, most relaxing way to have an organic, baby led photo session. With each newborn session in a client's home, I take the time to remove any distractions in the rooms where we shoot to keep the focus and attention on the subjects - Mom and Dad, baby and siblings (four-legged and otherwise;).
This loving family created the perfect light and airy nursery for their new baby boy. I love the pops of pale blue and golds used to create a warm and inviting space for their new baby. Scroll on to see a few of my favorites from this in-home newborn session in Jacksonville, Florida. My favorite images are grouped together in a series as a collage in this blog post. Sometimes grouping images of a similar aesthetic vibe help to tell the story. Enjoy and thank you so much for reading!
Those tiny details you never want to forget. It's easier in my humble opinion to get details and authentic interaction in a client's home during a newborn session, especially with siblings or pets, simply because they are already in their space and everybody can relax. Also, an added bonus, when Dad is done or when big brother or big sis' is finished with their part of the photo session, they can retreat to their room, have a snack, etc. There isn't any waiting around in a studio or a parking lot. It's a personal preference I know, but I've always loved documenting a family in their own space. I think years down the road they'll appreciate having not only the photographs from their newborn, but also a few documenting the time in their lives and the space they occupied during that time.
The nursery is my absolute favorite part of in-home newborn sessions! I LOVE LOVE LOVE being able to see how Mom and Dad decorated their space! You can really see people's personalities come through, and there are always special personal touches incorporated into the space that are unique to the family I am photographing. It makes me so happy to be able to preserve that for my client's.
Check out this adorable baby boy nursery adorned in pale blue and gold - perfection! And I love the rug and that nursery furniture!
