Our pantry is finally done! Since we've moved into the new house the projects are certainly stacked up, but this one is my favorite to date. From the custom butcher block countertop my husband installed, to the corner shelving that maximizes every inch of space, I love the function and style of our pantry. And it's even more special to me being that we designed, built and executed this entire space ourselves - from the shiplap to the shelving, from the countertop to the decor and hardware - we did every single aspect ourselves...with a little help from Easy Closets. You send them your dimensions and they send you pre-cut shelves and such that you install yourself. We sprung for the upgrade to include a baseboard for the bottom, which I think is important to achieve the built-in look.
We had the builder wire for electricity in the pantry so that I could plug in appliances like a blender and a coffee machine, leaving my kitchen clutter free. I also really wanted to have workspace in the pantry so we found this great piece of butcher block counter top at Home Depot and custom cut it to fit into the space. A little caulk around the sides and done! We added a few boards of shiplap to finish out the custom look, as well as a cute industrial style light fixture and I just love the end result!
Read on for the full tour of our pantry as well as product links and a few organizational tips!
The organization of this pantry really lends to a truly functioning space. No more over buying things you didn't know you already had...guilty! I found these great (and pretty!) glass storage containers at IKEA. They're a great price and have various sizes. The baskets are from The Container Store, also in various sizes. I used the large and the medium sizes. The wire baskets are also from The Container Store.
These minimalist labels have got to be my favorite things in the pantry! I ordered them from Etsy and used them on everything, from the food storage jars to the sauce containers to the spice jars. I absolutely love them! It feels so nice when you're making something that calls for a lot of spices and you can quickly grab them and move on with your recipe. I bought these great little spice jars on Amazon too.
Another thing I love that I purchased for our pantry are these fantastic cereal dispensers. They're great for dispensing not only cereal but also dry snacks like Goldfish, which my kiddos love. My daughter likes helping make her lunch in the morning for school so she'll pull a stool up to these dispensers and has a blast turning the knob.
I purchased these containers on Amazon and they are dupes for the very expensive OXO brand storage containers! I've had both, and frankly, these work and last better. The lids so far have not come off at all and the food stays fresh.
I had the water jug already, and we all drink lots of water daily so might as well have it on hand and make it fun! We'll switch it up with fruit sometimes, mint, cucumbers, etc. Paper straws, better for the environment, and a cut little moment with a few home decor books and a faux plant. Whenever possible, I always try to incorporate something living into the spaces I design. I really like the vibe a live (or faux) plant gives.
Another fun find were the coordinating aprons I found at IKEA. My 5 year old absolutely loves to cook with me, and puts her apron on any chance she gets.
That about sums it up! Please feel free to drop me questions in the comments!
