A magical Disney family photo session with the Zimmer family.

This was such a special and magical portrait session! Not only was the Zimmer family celebrating their third child's very first haircut (and birthday) at the Magic Kingdom, but they were also celebrating the absolute joyous occasion of Dad being CANCER FREE; a family photo session to document this very special time in their story.

Like most of my Magic Sessions, I'll begin around Main Street and get the iconic Main Street USA and castle shots, then we'll continue down the way to document whatever is important. Each session is different so it really is up to my clients to choose what is most important for them to remember. The Zimmers love the tea cups (as you'll see from their adorable family film linked below) so we made sure to include that in the mix. Then it was on to the carousel and grabbing a ballon and a treat before baby boy got his very first haircut!

Truth be told as many times as I've been to the Magic Kingdom, I really had no idea that you could schedule a real-life haircut for your child! I couldn't believe how cute it was. Each of their 3 children had their first haircuts at Disney, and they kept their hats to remember. I loved that they've continued on this tradition with baby #3 (and what's more) is that they have the foresight to understand the importance of documenting it to preserve the family story for their children. Photographs matter, and existing in photographs does too.

Magic Sessions are among my very favorite portrait sessions to do, not only because of the location, but having the opportunity to document a child's wonder in a way that only a magical place like Walt Disney World can is priceless.
