Finding Out Baby's Gender

A hot topic of conversation among parents-to-be is always whether or not to find out the baby's gender. Blue or pink? There are so many ways to do and share gender reveals nowadays, and learning the gender of a baby is such an exciting moment for family and friends of the parents-to-be, too. Over the past decade, gender reveals have become as common as baby showers, with some being quite elaborate!

Do you have a gender reveal story to share? I'd totally love to hear yours.

Finding out the gender is half the fun - how you reveal it is the other half!

From cupcakes with pink or blue centers, to confetti-filled eggs, or even messy paint parties, there are so many cute, sweet, and clever ways to make these kinds of big announcements. If you're planning to share the sex of your baby, there are so many popular and creative gender reveal ideas out there.

Sometimes I think it's cuter to have the little ones spill the proverbial beans about baby's gender. After all, a new baby brother or sister is just as exciting for them! We decided to allow our little Elle to steal the big sister show. It also allowed for a wonderful and memorable photo opportunity.

I wanted to go with something simple. I couldn't wait to celebrate our next baby after suffering miscarriage. When you experience miscarriage and then become pregnant again, in some ways you just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. When you find out the gender of your sweet baby, it brings a quality of flesh and blood and humanity to them that's difficult to put into words.

It is sometimes hard to share these most personal experiences, but I feel the need to do so because miscarriage is the result of 1 in 4 pregnancies. I know that being understood can be a beginning point of healing, and so to any woman reading this who has experienced miscarriage or pregnancy loss, I want you to know that I understand.

I see so clearly the miracle that our children will continue to be to me and Justin. I am so grateful to be welcoming a boy to our family!
