I LOVED this engagement session, and this client's story! Ryan + Ian met when they were 15!!! They've stayed friends through it all, and all of these years later are FINALLY engaged! They share an avid love for offshore fishing together, and are going to Costa Rica to go fishing for their honeymoon! What a lucky man to have found his soul mate and such a beautiful fishing buddy.

During my coastal portrait sessions I always like to give lots of direction to achieve natural looking poses, especially at the beach when there is a pretty neutral place and not a lot of distraction anyway. You really have to rely on your subjects, which is what I love most about photographing people on the beach. The simple and timeless vibes, the casual looks work, it's just my happy place.

For this light and airy engagement photo session I really wanted to portray the clear love and friendship these two have together. They truly are best friends so I wanted to make them comfortable and be sure to achieve candid moments. I loved their outfit change, and the fact that they went casual for their second look! It's so "them" and at the end of the day, these photos are theirs so I always encourage clients to be themselves and wear what makes them happy. If you do that, it translates well in the frame.
